If you’ve ever finished a gym session and felt a bit puffed out, spare a thought for LivingWell member Gary Connell, who recently completed a truly remarkable feat of strength and endurance for charity.
At 4pm on Saturday May 19th, Gary hit the treadmill at LivingWell Strathclyde – and was still going one day later! This incredible non-stop 24-hour run saw him cover a phenomenal 153 kilometres – that’s just over 95 miles, or three and a half marathons in one go!
“It was a rollercoaster ride of survival and mental toughness,” said Gary when he’d gotten his breath back, which made the support of the people who gathered to cheer him on – including his father – all the more important. “I have never felt such a high approaching those final few minutes. The cheering and clapping at the end will live with me forever.”
He also expressed his gratitude to Gemma and the Fitness Team for helping to make the whole event possible.
So far, Gary has raised a staggering £1,400 for his chosen charities – Yorkhill Children’s Foundation and Hilton in the Community Foundation. You can help him raise even more by donating here:
