I’ve lost over five stone!
When LivingWell member Alison realised being overweight was stopping her from living her life to the full, she decided to take action – and we were right there to support her.
Two years ago, Alison was taking stock of her life. There were so many things she dreamt of doing one day – from taking up tap dancing, to riding horses in the Andes, to skydiving. But there was one thing stopping her from living her dreams... her weight.
‘I was nearly 19 stone – and at only five foot four, that was way too heavy,’ explains Alison. ‘So I decided to get a Personal Trainer and a LivingWell membership and get on with it.’
By making this commitment to herself, Alison took the first crucial step to a healthier, happier life. She now works with LivingWell Personal Trainer, once weekly, and trains an additional four times a week on her own, using guidelines.
‘My personal trainer sets me a training regime that is challenging but not demoralising,’ says Alison. ‘Once a month, he changes my routine to make it more challenging and to make sure I keep losing weight.’
Together with her training, Alison has changed the way she eats for the better. ‘I’ve taken nutritional advice from LivingWell and also from a nutritionist, and my diet has changed drastically. But I’ve never “banned” any food – I’ve just eaten more of the good and less of the bad,’ she says.
So far, Alison has lost 72lb – nearly five-and-a-half stone – and she’s motivated to continue working with her LivingWell Personal Trainer to reach her healthy and realistic goal weight.
‘I’m not finished yet!’ she says. ‘I’m aiming to lose around another two stone, but I understand now that weight is not the problem, it is about body fat percentage, strength and conditioning. So if I still weigh 12 stone, but am a size 12, I won’t complain!’
