In June we set our members a ‘hot’ new gym challenge, the aim being to get fit and have some fun. The goal is to cover 8,000 miles (the distance of the Olympic torch relay) from June 1st until the torch arrives at the Olympic stadium on July 27th.
Everyone can get involved
Here’s the good news: you don’t need to be an athlete to take part! You can clock up the miles using a bike, treadmill, x-trainer, rower, stepper or hand bike (if your club has one). Water babies can get involved too – if you record the number of lengths you swim, a team member will convert it to miles.
Because we like a bit of healthy competition at LivingWell, there will be prizes for all the participating members at the club with the most miles covered, and an individual prize for the member in each club who covers the most miles during the challenge.
You’ll be able to follow the gym challenge journey on a map displayed in your club and on Facebook. Every mile counts for the team, so why not join in the fun? It’s a great way to burn off some calories too!
