Train Better Together

With the summer months just around the corner, now is the perfect time to find someone you can train with regularly.

  1. Keep yourself accountable.

Meeting someone at the gym is a great way to make sure you actually get there, and setting a regular time for your work outs can really help to keep you on track. If someone is relying on you, it makes you more likely to do it, and harder to get out of your workout with excuses.

Taking a class is a great way to meet new people, and going with a friend could give you the confidence to start. At LivingWell, all of our classes are inclusive and friendly, and there’s something for everyone. If you and your training partner are looking for a new challenge, why not try an exercise class at your local LivingWell club?

You could also consider travelling to your local LivingWell together, to help reduce traffic and save on emissions, which is not only good for you, but also the planet!

  1. Work Harder.

Training with a partner or friend adds a competitive element, meaning that you are more likely to push yourself and gain more from your workouts. Having someone else to train with who has the same mindset can also help to motivate you and keep you on track with your goals.

It can also encourage you to try new sports and activities, as your training partner might enjoy exercises that you would not normally choose for yourself, helping to keep your workout routine varied. Why not take it in turns to plan your work outs? If you’re stuck for inspiration on where to start, speak to your LivingWell team, who will be happy to give you some pointers.

  1. Makes Training less of a Chore.

Seeing training as a social activity rather than a just another job on your to do list, means you are more likely to look forward to it, and enjoy it.  This spring, why not head to your local LivingWell pool for a swim or plan a walk in the countryside with a friend. Take the chance to spend time with those you care about, while also looking after your health and staying active!

Working out with a partner or friend also offers a chance for time with a loved one, which can help boost mental wellbeing. Exercising as part of a class can help you to make new friends and improve your sense of wellbeing and belonging – both of which are also great for improving mental wellbeing as well as physical health!

So, find your workout partner, it’s time to level up your training! And don’t forget, you get one month free when you refer a friend at LivingWell.
